28 March 2013 -- Goodman, the global integrated property group that owns, develops and manages logistics facilities and business parks, is developing a 32,200 sqm logistics facility, including 1,600 sqm of associated office space, which has been pre-leased to a major distributor in the Euroflory zone of Berre-l'Etang.
Construction of the new facility, on seven hectares, commenced in October 2012, with handover scheduled for summer 2013.
Additional land is available for expansion, with the ability to further extend the facility to potential total areas of 44,000 sqm and 62,000 sqm.
The facility developed by Goodman is situated in the heart of the Euroflory logistics area in Berre-l'Etang, 35 km from Marseille, less than 10 km from the Marseille-Provence International Airport, and 7 km from the A7 motorway.
This is the seventh project to be undertaken by Goodman in France in the past eighteen months and the first in the Provence-Alps-Côte d'Azur region bringing the total amount of development to over 265,000 sqm.
On completion, the building will be acquired by Goodman European Logistics Fund (GELF) and will continue to be managed by Goodman's in-house property services team.
GSE will construct the building, having already brought its expertise to the table during the design process in view of the challenges that the site presented.
Jean-François Mounic, Regional Director for Southern Europe, said: "We are very happy to develop this new built-to-suit facility at Berre-l'Etang for our customer. Once again, Goodman's commitment, capability and financial strength were major factors in securing our partner's final decision, and in creating our leading position in European logistics development."
Bertrand Chabanne, Commercial Manager of GSE, concluded: "The efficiency and the persistence of the team we established with Goodman helped us win this project. GSE was able to demonstrate its expertise in terms of the design and implementation of logistics facilities, given the technical complexity of the project owing to the steepness of the site, in conjunction with the option of expanding the facility."
Goodman was advised by the notaries Oudot & Associés. The building was designed by MW Architecture.
