29 March 2013 -- Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant joined the ranks of national transport machinery companies, meeting the requirements of International Railway Industry Standard (IRIS). The certificate was presented to organization by the president of the Non-commercial partnership "Association of Railway Equipment Manufacturers", Valentin Gapanovich, in the course of General Meeting of Copartners in Samara.
In February 2013 certification audit was carried out in the organization with the aim of verification of compliance with IRIS requirements. Audit was performed by German certification authority DQS GmbH (Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Zertifizierung von Managementsystemen) with participation of German auditor G.B. Rodemacher.
Auditors gave a high estimate to business management system of Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant, making a pointed reference to high professional skills of employees, advanced equipment and focus on innovative and high-performance management and production practices. Subsequent to the results of audit the decision was taken to issue IRIS conformance certificate to Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant, assigning a high inspection score to organization being certified for the first time. This fact confirms that Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant is able to establish itself as a leading choice in the branch of industry.

Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant (TVSZ) is located at the industrial site of Tikhvin, Leningrad region.
The plant produces 4 types of railway freight cars of new design: Solid-bottom gondola, Hopper Car for mineral fertilizers, Flat car for high- capacity containers transportation with the loading length of 80 feet, Drop-bottom universal gondola. The design of the freight cars has been worked out by Starfire Engineering&Technologies (USA) based on Barber S-2-R bogie with the maximum estimated static load from the wheel set on rails 23,5 tf and 25 tf, involving the design of Standard Car Truck (USA) and standard Russian bogie.
Annual production capacity of TVSZ is 13 000 freight cars, 65 000 wheel sets and 90 000 tons of steel casting.
